Let me just start out by saying that this is the perfect recipe to make with your kids. It doesn’t require the oven, stove (unless you melt the chocolate using a double boiler), or any sharp objects.
There are no rules!
You can’t make this graham cracker bark wrong.
You can let your kids be as creative as they want!
That’s what I love about this. I love when kids are in the kitchen with me. My little guy isn’t quite old enough yet, but as soon as he is you better believe he’ll be in the kitchen with me. I mean what child wouldn’t love being able to sprinkle whatever kind of candy or cookie they want over the melted chocolate?!
It’s so simple and I can’t even really call this a recipe.
All you need to make this bark are some graham crackers, melted chocolate and any kind of topping you like. It’s that simple and like I said before so much fun for the kiddos.
I took an 8×8 pan and lined it with foil, just so it would be easier to remove when the chocolate was set. You can absolutely make this bark in a larger pan, you’ll just need more graham crackers, chocolate and of course toppings.
I lined the pan with the graham crackers, I choose to use chocolate graham crackers but you can absolutely use whatever kind you prefer. I used seven full sheets of crackers, breaking them up as need be to get the entire bottom of the pan covered. If they overlap a little that’s ok.
Pour the melted chocolate over the graham cracker layer and smooth it out so all the crackers are covered evenly. I used white chocolate, I like the contrast between the white chocolate and the chocolate graham crackers, I think it’s pretty. Again, try my combination or come up with your own. Be creative. See, isn’t it pretty?
Next comes the fun part. Sprinkle any kind of topping you like. Cookies, candy, sprinkles marshmallows…the options are endless. I used sprinkles, mini marshmallows and I shaved some bittersweet chocolate over the top.
You can make this a million times and never create the same bark twice.
I like the idea of having each child in your family create their own bark, drop a few pieces in a treat bag, attach the recipe to the bag and pass them out to family and friends around the holidays. They will be so proud of the recipe they created on their own and will love sharing it with everyone. Go ahead, you can steal my idea!
- 7 chocolate graham cracker sheets
- 8 ounces melted white chocolate
- Toppings of choice
- Line an 8x8 pan with foil.
- Fill the bottom of the pan with the graham crackers, breaking them up as need be.
- Melt the white chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler.
- Pour the chocolate over the graham crackers and cover all the crackers evenly.
- Sprinkle with whatever type of toppings you like.
- Let the bark sit for a few hours until the chocolate has set.
- Break into pieces and store in an air tight container.
